Greetings from Maker Works! We’re a nonprofit community makerspace in Ann Arbor, MI. We teach a workshop where students build the Genmitsu 3018 PRO and we’ve designed custom 3D-printed mounts for the accessories that aid in operating this machine. In collaboration with SainSmart, we’re happy to share both the 3D files and a tutorial for installation to make learning more accessible for all.
The mounts and clips can work with other versions of the Genmitsu, as long as there are grooves in the extrusions for T-nuts to slide into. You’re welcome to print the parts and test them on your own machine.
This tutorial will cover installing our 3D-printed mounts for the Genmitsu 3018 PRO’s X, Y, and Z limit switches, E-Stop switch, and additional cable clips.
We have selected locations for the home switches for ease of assembly; it is important that the controller settings are correctly set to look for home switches at these locations. If you change the home switch locations on your machine, you must also adjust the controller settings accordingly, or homing won’t work and may cause collisions.
The final part of the tutorial will cover testing your switches in three different ways, depending on how you prefer to operate your machine: using the offline controller, UGS, or Easel.
