When we released the Genmitsu 3018-PROVer CNC, one of the most exciting features included was the Z probe, which automates the process of establishing the Z-Zero position.
To successfully operate your CNC machine, you must set it up for the toolpath you created (see the Fusion 360 Quick Start Guide for more details). This setup requires defining the X, Y, and Z zero positions, collectively establishing the "origin."
Simply put, this determines the starting point for all movements during operation. While many consider the X and Y coordinates to be the most critical for ensuring the project fits within the stock material, they are also the easiest to set.
In contrast, setting the Z-Zero position manually is significantly more challenging using conventional methods, as demonstrated in this video:
This manual process is subjective, requiring user expertise and taking considerable time. By comparison, the Z-Probe fully automates this process and eliminates user error, as shown in this video:
For a detailed guide on using the Z probe, check out this resource. Feel free to post any questions or comments below.
Can this be used with the Sainsmart genmitsu 3018 with the black Frame. I see pins on the board for end stops but no zprobe, could I use it in place of the Z min or temporary until zeroed. If so would I have to make any firmware changes
